So in 2018, when we introduced NEOVA Professional Treatments, it was essential to make use of new and emerging discoveries. Challenged to combine clinically proven acids with blended ingredients in smart delivery systems, our scientists developed an all-new approach to chemical peels to preserve all the benefits without the traditional hassle of downtime and distasteful side effects of traditional peels.
The Starting Point: Prevailing at the time was the thought that bringing on inflammation was the only way to create true change in the skin. Research brought our scientists to another conclusion: they could offer ways to work with the skin rather than against it. Removing the inflammatory element of traditional chemical peeling, they reasoned, would allow clinicians to safely treat more patients, more frequently and combine them with treatments which weren’t possible with the old generation peels: professional facials, exfoliations, light therapies, microcurrents and the standard do-nots in post-peel instructions.
Mission Accomplished: At their very foundation, NEOVA Professional Treatments are true to the hallmark of chemical peeling: exfoliation and an acidic pH to increase cell turnover of healthy cells. However, they do it differently. Our blended acid formulas have been refined, and so have dermatologists' approaches to using them -- not so much to cause visible peeling but to saturate skin with ingredients that diminish lines, build collagen and improve tone at the cellular level.
Using a progressive, milder superficial approach over an aggressive one of strong, concentrated acid, the point of departure in NEOVA Professional Treatments is in the clever engineering of several acids at lower percentage concentrations in self-limiting peels -- ones that are more predictable for maximum results, fewer side-effects and work where they count the most: at different cellular levels not typically penetrable.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids [AHAs]. Non-toxic Organic Acids.
Glycolic, Lactic & Mandelic Acids:
In general, AHAs are considered superficial and safe for all skin types, from light to dark. They have the ability to penetrate the surface layers by breaking up the bonds between dead, barrier skin cells. Once the barrier is reduced, cells turnover increases and collagen and elastin production is reset.
Each AHA has a specialization:
Glycolic acid can reduce hyperpigmentation, correct fine surface lines and sallow textural abnormalities. Its small molecular size gives it the agility to work quickly.
Lactic acid promotes exfoliation without dehydrating and its comparatively larger molecular size allows it to penetrate slowly, which reduces treatment-induced inflammation, making it a good fit for sensitive and dry skin conditions.
Mandelic Acid, also a chemical exfoliant, removes layers of dead & dull skin cells by loosening them from uppermost layer of the barrier. By dissolving skin cells, it too works to increase cell turnover, reducing signs of sun damage, acne, & blackheads.
Beta Hydroxy Acid [BHA]
Salicylic Acid:
It may be best known for its ability to dissolve and decongest pores, reducing acne lesions, but Salicylic acid is just as well-suited for sensitive skin and rosacea conditions. Its notable anti-inflammatory exfoliation benefits are suggested in studies to be beneficial for treating post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, mild to moderate photodamage, benign sun-induced lesions and abnormal surface texture.
Trichloroacetic Acid [TCA]
Highly regarded for its versatility, TCA is a practical, safe and predictable peeling agent. It cultivates collagen production and smooths surface texture, making it ideal to correct wrinkles, benign lesions, hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Complication-averse, our all-inclusive blended acid peels contain hydrating agents, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients – all, to help to reinforce the exfoliating benefits of superficial chemical peels by specific targeting.
By using several acids in combination, NEOVA professional treatments are more controlled, more multi-functional than straight acid chemical peels and can be formulated at lower percentages, thereby maximizing outcomes and minimizing the risk of complications.
